Leaving a Legacy 2012 Scholarship Winner

Leaving a Legacy would like to Congratulate our First Scholarship Winner, Sarae Loren Ellis.
Sarae is one of Leaving a Legacy's first Graduates and we are proud to have selected her as our First Scholarship Winner.   
Sarae Loren Ellis was born February 8th, 1995 in Dallas, Texas to Shawn P. and Sebrena R. Ellis. She later moved to Denton, Texas at 4 months old. She spent her precocious preschool years at The Selwyn School where she learned to read at age 3. This resulted in her skipping kindergarten and beginning school in the 1st grade at age 5. She was homeschooled for the 3rd, 4th and 6th grades.  She attended Providence Elementary for 5th grade and Navo Middle School. Sarae’s activities and honors include Navo Step Team, Denton High school Fillies drill team, National Junior Honor Society, National Youth Scholastic Leaders, National Society of High School Scholars, French National Honor Society, National Youth Leadership Council, DHS Student Council, and Peer Assistance Leadership and Service (PALS).  She has volunteered time with the Salvation Army, Denton Family of the Year, Navo Middle School, and mentored students at Evers Park and Newton Rayzor Elementary.   She accepted Christ and was baptized at Morse Street Baptist Church on November 4th, 2001. Her church activities include ushering, teaching Sunday school, praise dancing, running track and singing in the choir.  Sarae graduated from Denton High School on June 1, 2012.  She has been accepted to Oral Roberts University in Tulsa Oklahoma, where she plans to pursue a degree in Christian Psychology.  Sarae is a recipient of the 2012 Whole Person Scholarship from ORU, Denton High School Fillies Scholarship, and Bert E. and Pris Lyle Track Scholarship.  Sarae’s hobbies include dancing, singing, golfing, drawing, and socializing. She loves little kids and helping people.

7 year old first grader, Jalen Butler is making headlines as a young pulished author: He has been featured in Denton Record Chrinicle three times this past month, with a front page photo on May 18 edtion caputuring him reading his book, "Helping Man...The Beginning" for his school's Young Author's Day (Hawk Elementary in Corinth, TX). Jalen recently interviewed twice on KWRD 100.7FM, The Word Christian radio station (Dallas). On June 2, he had a special book reading and signing at Barnes and Noble Denton, where Jalen and his brothers debuted the "Helping Man" theme song!

 Millhouse Records Teen Pop/Hip-Hop/R&B Recording Artist Rumill
Rumill (pronounced R-uh-mill) is an American Pop/R&B/Hip-Hop Recording Artist originally from Memphis, TN who currently resides in Irving, TX. At birth doctors proclaimed that Rumill would be a singer due to the octave range she exercised when she cried! Rumill put her songwriting skills with producer/bass player Bryan Nesbitt of the legendary R&B group the Bar-Kays and co-producer Marc Da 3rd of Nu South Music in Atlanta to create her debut release, ‘Not the 1 for me’ at the age of 15; making her one of the youngest songwriters of today! Not the 1 for me is from the self titled debut album, Rumill. This former Coppell High School student recently graduated high school at the age of 16 through a home school program at Southeastern High School!

Leaving a Legacy Tea Party & Girl's Etiquette Camp

Our Tea Party is a fun, inter-generational day for being pampered, entertained and informed.  While enjoying entertainment, motivational speakers, fashion show, shopping, food and fun.  Last year the attendance for the event was over 125 woman and girls.  The rate for the Tea Party is $25. 
Leaving a Legacy has expanded this years itinerary adding a 3 day etiquette camp for girls ending with the traditional Tea Party.  We are totally committed to giving girls skills, virtues and friendships that will last forever.  Our camp will strive to lead young girls to become strong, self-assured young women.  It will be a great experience!   The camp will be held at Best Western Premier Crown Chase Inn & Suites 2450 Brinker Road, Denton, TX. 76208. 
We are a Christian based organization therefore each day will begin and end with Prayer.  The camp curriculum is created to encourage growth in the Five “F’s” Faith, Family, Fitness (health awareness), Future (education and economics) and Friendship. 
The fee for the four day camp is $300. This rate includes 3 night room and board, 3 meals, 2 snacks daily, 3 t-shirts, all camp activities and the Tea party on Sunday. 
All high school juniors and seniors that are attending the camp have an opportunity to win a $500 scholarship awarded at the Tea party.  Contact leaving a legacy for an application.

The Special Tea Pary is a fun, intergenertional day for being pampered, entertained adn and informed.  While enjoying entertainment, spriritual motivational speakers, fashion show, shopping, faith,food and fun.  Leaving a Legacy Tea 2011 was held on Sunday,  June 24, 2011.  The tea had an attendance of 112 woman and girls.  We are excited about our upcoming Leaving a Legacy Camp and Tea, August 2-5, 2012.
